»Virtual music instruments in practice: Creative concepts to optimize sound results«
A musical research project 2017 - 2024
The project topic generated significant interest,
especially among TV and film composers. Several composers, including Emmy Award
winners and Nominees, were interviewed about their current working methods with
virtual instruments and DAWs. Additional interviews were conducted with some TV
and film composers. Classical contemporary composers were also represented.
goal
Even more technical know-how
The aim of the project is to enhance the
widespread practice of intuitive music-making with more manual expertise. The
study focuses on the evaluation of the workflow when working with virtual
orchestral instruments.
method
Proven and new ways
Through the collaboration of music-makers as
well as manufacturers of software or sound libraries, the possibilities of
combining composition and instrumentation techniques with the respective
products should be investigated.
results
Improve how you work
The results of this study are intended to help
people reflect on their own working methods and to make the differences in the
working processes of music makers more transparent.
summary
Impact on practical work
Creative work does not have to follow a
predetermined plan. The discussion is also intended to encourage software and
software instrument manufacturers to pay more attention to this issue.
